[Music] jungle so you've made the move here to
Tennessee or you're planning a trip down and   you want to know about the best golf courses that
Tennessee has to offer well that is great because   today we are going to talk about the top three
golf courses here in the state of Tennessee so   for the non-golfers out there you probably need
to know a little bit about Golf Course rankings   so Golf Course rankings are typically published
each year by popular golf magazines and websites   with the oldest being Golf Digest banial rankings
of the greatest golf courses in America this list   is voted on by a group of golf course experts and
has been published since 1965 but how do the Golf   Digest experts determine the golf course rankings
well the score is actually a combination of   factors and those factors are shot values meaning
does the course offer a variety of different shots   next we have resistance to scoring and that's
going to mean how well does the golf course   test a professional golfer next is design variety
meaning is there a variety of dog legs distance   and Hazards after that we have memorability
meaning does the course create a memorable   experience next is going to be Aesthetics
pretty simply put how memorable or how Scenic   is the course then we have conditioning so are the
fairways tea boxes and greens in great condition   finally we have our last metric and that is going
to be Ambiance meaning can you send the traditions   of the game of golf while you're on the course
all of this is combined and the final scores   are the average of these seven criteria with the
shot value score being doubled so now that you've   got a little bit of insight on how our courses
are ranked let's dive into the top three golf   courses here in Tennessee number one on our list
is going to be the honors course in ulaa Tennessee   for those unfamiliar udawa is just a small City
Northeast of Chattanooga Tennessee the land that   would become the honors course was purchased back
in 1981 and construction of the worldclass golf   course began on July 23rd 1981 just two short
years later on July 2nd 1983 the honors course   officially opened and immediately took its place
among the great golf courses of the world and over   the years has played host to the top an amateur
tournament golfers in the country the course   is described as being radical in its early days
because of its Acres of tall native grass rough   durable Fairways and terrifying greens perch
to top rock bulkheads but is today considered   a well-preserved example of Pete dy's Death Or
Glory Golf Course architecture number two on our   list is going to be one that is actually just down
the road from my current home and that is the golf   club of Tennessee in Kingston Springs again for
those unfamiliar Kingston Springs is a small town   Southwest of Nashville Tennessee The Golf Club of
Tennessee opened its doors to its members in March   of 1991 and gained instant National recognition
as one of the best new private courses for 1991   since its inaugural year the golf Golf Club
of Tennessee has been recognized in multiple   Publications across the country and has played
host to numerous local State national amateur   and proam tournaments the course is described
as a sprawling golf only layout incorporating   dense forest Rocky ridges and a river valley with
holes that are strategic and penal challenging yet   player friendly and memorable but not contrived
number three on our list is going to be Spring   Creek Ranch in Collierville Tennessee just east
of Memphis Tennessee the Spring Creek Ranch was   formerly a cattle ranch but after owner Dr David
Meyer Met Golf Legend Jack Nicholas the rest was   history Jack Nicholas was tasked with building
one of the best golf courses in the world by the   doctor and the course opened shortly after in
199 99 since then it has been ranked as one of   the best courses in the state and host tournaments
ranging from amateur tournaments up to PGA level   tournaments now this course is a little bit
different where the prior courses we talked   about um the countryside and the topography was
engineered to fit the course the kind of reverse   is true with Spring Creek Ranch the course
was designed to in into the natural flow of   the landscape in cerville and it is a very very
beautiful course tons of nature all around and uh   Jack Nicholas did a phenomenal job of turning old
cow pastures into an incredible golf course that   we can appreciate today so folks that is going to
