Photos: The (updated) transformation of Bryson DeChambeau — from SMU star to U.S. Open champion to LIV Golfer

Bryson DeChambeau’s body transformation has been well-documented. He once looked more linebacker than linksman.

The California native added about 40 total pounds of muscle while following the training regimen of Greg Roskopf. It’s called Muscle Activation Technique and it re-made DeChambeau’s 6-foot-1-inch frame to protect himself against future injury.

The former Southern Methodist star has built upon his new foundation, capturing the 2020 Rocket Mortgage Classic in Detroit and finished T-4 in the PGA Championship. He finally broke through for his first major championship at Winged Foot, winning the 2020 U.S. Open.

In 2021, DeChambeau looked like he could start at nose tackle for an NFL team, but at the 2023 PGA Championship, where he shot an opening round 66, the 29-year-old looked more like a running back or a safety.

The 2020 U.S. Open winner still has broad shoulders and a muscular frame, but the bulk he amassed chugging protein shakes, putting himself through grueling workouts and training his body to maximize speed is gone.

Here’s a look at the massive transformations the Texan has undergone.
