Photos: Michelle Wie West's professional golf career through the years

Through the years, many golf fans have watched Michelle Wie West grow up on some of the sport’s biggest stages.

She started playing golf at age 4 and credits her parents as being the biggest influences in her career. Her first LPGA event came in 2002, at the Takefuji Classic, where she became the youngest player to Monday qualify for a Tour event at the age of 12 years, 4 months, 14 days.

In 2003, she played in seven LPGA events, highlighted by a ninth-place finish at the Kraft Nabisco Championship. She set numerous records, including the youngest to finish in the top 10 at an LPGA event. She would go on to turn pro in October 2005. Her first win came in 2009, at the Lorena Ochoa Invitational.

At the 2022 U.S. Women’s Open at Pine Needles, she officially announced that she was stepping away from the tour.

But that wasn’t her final goodbye. Wie West, the 2014 U.S. Women’s Open champion, knew then that she couldn’t pass up an opportunity to play Pebble Beach with her husband, Jonnie, on the bag and the rest of her family watching. She’s expected to finish her career at the 2023 U.S. Women’s Open.
