Keith Mitchell has ‘failed a bunch on Sundays,’ but hopes things will go his way this time at the 2024 Sanderson Farms Championship

JACKSON, Miss. — More than 4½ years have passed since Keith Mitchell’s one and only PGA Tour victory at the Honda Classic in March 2019.

The Chattanooga, Tennessee, native and University of Georgia product has a chance for No. 2 on Sunday during the final round of the Sanderson Farms Championship at The Country Club of Jackson.

Mitchell shot a third-round-best 7-under Saturday, putting him atop the leaderboard at 20 under, one shot ahead of Beau Hossler, who led after two rounds and bounced back from a double-bogey on the par-4 12th hole to stay near the top.

Mitchell’s bogey-free round included seven birdies. He made nine birdies Friday.

But Mitchell knows winning won’t be easy.

“Tomorrow is a completely new day,” he said. “It’s Sunday. Last group. Been there before and failed a bunch on Sundays in the last group.

David Skinns, who shot a course-record 60 during the first round Thursday, enters Sunday tied for 44th at 10-under.

The highest score through three rounds is 6-under.
