Matt Goodman no longer with LIV Golf

Matt Goodman, who became president of franchises for LIV Golf in May, is no longer with the Saudi-backed golf organization, sources said Thursday. This marks the second departure of a senior exec in less than a month for LIV, which is in a critical stage as it prepares for its second season of competition. Last month, Atul Khosla stepped down from his role as COO. Both execs were viewed as key figures as LIV looks to bolster its business model and begin tapping into traditional ways of generating revenue. Goodman had been tasked with leading strategy and operations for LIV’s 12 teams, including developing league and team policies, revenue, branding and innovation. After attracting a formidable stable of golfers during its inaugural season, LIV is preparing to begin an expanded 14-event schedule with LIV Golf Mayakoba in Riviera Maya, Mexico, from Feb. 24-26. Securing a traditional U.S. media rights deal and, ultimately, corporate sponsors are paramount for LIV in its second season. Continuing to build its franchise model is central to its unique business structure.
