Drastic changes at Augusta National? Aerial photos show work being done to par 3 course

I’ve written about them in the past, but Eureka Earth is one of the best accounts you can follow on Twitter. It posts incredible aerial photos of Augusta National Golf Club year-round, and Tuesday, they posted a gem.

Augusta National’s par 3 course was originally designed by George Cobb and opened in 1958. Two years later, the Par 3 Contest tradition was born.

Then, in 1987, some of the routing was changed, including two brand new holes coming to life.

Golf fans know that Augusta isn’t afraid of change. Well, of the course itself, that is. They seem to adjust something every year. For example, this past April saw a newly lengthened 15th hole.
