LIV Golf has signed its latest commit, a player who had been on the precipice of a PGA Tour career.
On Tuesday, LIV Golf announced that No. 1-ranked Korean pro Yubin Jang has signed to play for Kevin Na’s LIV team, the Iron Heads.
The 22-year-old phenom turned pro in 2023, and a year later captured two titles and five runner-up finishes to win KPGA Player of the Year honors. With that honor comes a spot in the final stage of 2024 PGA Tour Q-School.
Jang, who is currently ranked No. 135 in the Official World Golf Ranking, was eyeing that reward and a potential future on the PGA Tour and was scheduled to play the Q-School’s final stage beginning Dec. 12. But now he has withdrawn from the competition in light of his LIV deal.
Na, the Iron Heads team captain who had five wins in his PGA Tour career, talked about the Jang signing in a press release, writing, “As a promising young talent from Korea, I’ve been following his career for years and have had my eye on him to join the team. The Iron Heads needed young talent like his to push our veterans, and I’m confident he has what it takes to become a world-class golfer.
“Yubin’s presence shows young Korean golfers a clear path to competing globally against the best, and with an event in Korea this year, his addition is a major boost for our team. It’s an incredibly exciting time for Korean golf.”
The Iron Heads struggled in the 2024 LIV regular season, entering the LIV Dallas team championship event in 13th place. But they put together a clutch performance in the championship, eventually finishing in second place.
Jinichiro Kozuma and Danny Lee were a part of Na’s team in 2024, and both have re-signed to the Iron Heads for 2025. Jang will take the spot held by Scott Vincent last season.
The 2025 LIV Golf season begins Feb. 7 in Saudi Arabia.
