I Got Fitted For BRAND NEW GOLF CLUBS At The PGA TOUR Superstore!!

welcome back to another that golf grind video
today i'm at the pga tour superstore getting fit   for brand new irons this video is going to take
you through the entire fitting process so make   sure you watch to the end to see what irons
i end up with and make sure to subscribe so   you don't miss my driver and putter fitting
and i hope you enjoy the video hit a couple   and yeah please not please i just have an eight
iron for that all right that's fine that's fine have you hit a fuse or seven whenever you know
you're getting a little more loose just because   all these fitting heads are seven irons so
i'll get a little apples to apples around here one thing you said a second ago michael
you said that you when you're playing well   you have a tendency to start over cooking
that yeah does that chat feel softy   put the horsepower down i don't like flexi
i don't know like i've had these shots for   probably three to four years but they don't
feel like too whippy okay i'll go over the   seven iron but just a lot of familiarity
though for four years yeah so okay yeah you can get that ball up in the sky huh yeah
there is a degree in the world you can't hold   it just it just goes up something interesting
too that you were saying before we were rolling   was that you don't put any of the numbers up there
which is interesting so what i found is that when   i display numbers players generally tend to focus
on the wrong amount of data at the end of the day   i really i'm not overly concerned with the total
distance i'm more concerned with carry distances   if there's a bunker out there can you get over
there if i do my job right and we work together   well you're going to have stopping power you hit
a really high golf so it's not a bad thing it's   not a good thing it's just that you think every
player is different there's no cookie cutter no   one way when you have that higher ball your launch
is actually right in a really good frame for what   a seven hour should be you have a tendency to
put a little more spin on the ball yeah angle   of attack's fantastic you don't deviate too much
there so you have high spin high angle descent so   you see that little sag yeah your ball tends to
want a balloon not a whole heck of a lot but it   will have a tendency to want a balloon yeah so
you have tons of stopping power so 84 88 stopping   again i'm not too concerned with this i'm more
concerned with this number here so i think a good   game plan for us keep this launch window in that
general area yeah we want to try to shave some of   the spin down but keep this landing angle you know
49 51 right in that ballpark maybe shave hopefully   get this down maybe 800 900 revs okay just to give
you more of a penetrating ball flight yeah again   you're not here for the distance aspect you have
tons of that but what that'll do is give you more   consistency distance i'm gonna play around with a
couple angles you know a couple different shafts   don't be upset if you hit a few errand shots you
know it's kind of sometimes i'll put a shaft in   there i know might not work but i want to see
how you react to it as a player yeah so cool so 18.7 degree launch window yeah 6700 spin 55
degree angle descent there's your stopping power   and a lot of it to boot so yeah now when we start
what we're saying we're going to try to keep this   launch window similar uh but i'd like to keep that
down which will give you more of a penetrating   ball flight caveat with that is you're a player
who's not really here for distance yeah when i do   that peak height drops by 20 feet landing ion
stays the same all i did was shaped a thousand   spin wow little lower launch but look at that
distance you just picked up was that functional   as a player for a player of your level probably
not you right at 200 yard seven iron your catio   love it you only carry six clubs in the bag but
we want to make sure that's going to be something   that's functional at the end of the day yeah
what's the shot that you hate to see um the hosel   i'm just kidding um i would probably say crazy
over hook like long left which is brutally you   don't really want to miss long so absolutely yeah
you can talk to a fade but a hook doesn't listen is your chance to get a little
quick yeah yeah exactly okay   now from a fitting perspective yeah again we're
not here you're not coming in for a lesson you're   not coming in to change your swing so from a
fitting perspective what i want to do is just   make your miss shots more playable yeah i'm
not going to be able to take them away those   are going to happen but for instance so that
shot you got a little quick yeah you kept your   real nice draw path you just close the club
face down yep that one 128 feet to the left   so i think a victory for us is well first off 120
feet not going to do anything but if we can get   that to you know be plus or minus 40 feet left
and right i think we're definitely in business there's some gas pedal so what i have
to watch is again it spins a little   different because the shaft a little more
appropriate for what you do as a player   if we're going to stick into that
style or that tendency of that   lofts this is the number i have to really
pay attention to because we're going to get   real quickly back into that flight again so when
you get into that style now i'm more concentrating   on that launch window because you're going to
put more spin on the ball spin on the balls   more times are not predicated off of you know loss
first and foremost but also angle attack you have   a very nice angle attack you don't vary too much
off of that okay so i gotta be sure that those   spin numbers stay in line so you're not right back
in the same position you started off with yeah you want to kind of normalize these distances
so one minute you hit it a little heavy just   using those last three there one minute covered
176.

Yeah now that contact you're right that   was a little just a little towards the toe and not
generally speaking not bad right so path was there   facing just neutral then you all of a sudden now
you did close this club face down a little more   but also and that thing went you know 13 yards
further yeah out of nothingness but a different   swing yeah so that's not what you want you want
consistency of that cover plus or minus you   know five to seven is acceptable yeah but yeah you
don't want all of a sudden play for that 185 cover   you happen to have a hiccup shut the face down
it goes 200 yards yeah so this sucker again not   a lot of tech just how they're engineering it is
more forgiving than the blades of the old days   yeah but what you're gonna see you're gonna
get into that real tight top line all right the mv which we just did yeah we got 75 that was
a hiccup swing but 74.77 yeah this last shot you   were actually in the heel it cooked 47 feet we
already know that the miss shot the threshold   we want that 40 to 45 foot range that one you had
a four degree pass slightly shut faced relatively   neutral a little healy so there's a lot of
factors that said you should have bled off   a lot of ball speed that's still covered right
in the range of what you were doing consistently   across the okay these are all carries that one
we already know that was just a bad shot so   i could take that apart you never want this
oval to be oblong you don't want to get hit   distance wise on a bad swing you might get
hit directionally speaking because you know   it's golf the other day we all have our big
misses impact speaking you don't miss that's   pretty much where you live so from a blade
perspective again i do tend to talk people   off the bridge more times than not because these
are things on a general day more people miss out   here yeah because people scoop they flip and they
do golf things when you have a shaft that's more   appropriate it will actually hold the power that
you want to put onto it you'll be able to sneak   out that extra yards when you need to or when the
adrenaline is hitting tournament conditions things   like that but it's just whether you want to do
and that's a decision you'll be able to make is it easier to fit a good player or
a bad player less experienced players   have more to gain a lot of fittings
because it brings the enjoyment back   to the game if your misses aren't as
bad you're having more fun oh yeah stripe show there it is yeah all i want to do is hit
five shots as if you're on the course do   your pre-shot routine that's it and then
we're just gonna go right down the line so the first club the t1 kind of all over the
world there you had a tendency to leave it out   and then you self-corrected but see how that
almost gained 20 yards yeah that's the red flag   cb your tendency was getting a little more left
again we're trying to control because one of   you told me the front is that big mislock yeah
so not a huge fan of that p7mb you're going to   have higher spin characteristics with that you
are going to sacrifice some yardage but look   at your dispersion pattern pick up yeah and then
mizuno came to play there's your mizuno dispersion   yellow yeah okay yeah that's pretty solid yeah
that's pretty solid so we went 184 188 185 181 186   again we said up front we want to go that plus or
minus five that's like right there we've achieved   that yeah absolutely let's go back to where we
started here so 185 cover which is what we were   getting out of this museum see that difference
in flight yeah wanted to sag a little bit   again we already know the shaft you're currently
in was a little too soft for what you want to do   so you had the peak height was really high your
angle sense really high spin was higher than what   you really needed to see now we go to that same
number carry distance on the mizuno straight line   energy energy energy energy steep angle descent
stopping power your spin still coming at 6 600   revs which you're going to be on the higher side
with the with a bladier style club but now you're   not ballooning now you have that consistency
and if we look at that consistency of spin   61 63 66 66 63 you're living right right there
might be a winner i think we're on to something   there yeah i think you're a mizuno guy yeah i
guess so yeah and that's why i do this because the   proof's in the pudding you can hit all these shots
all day long but when you put them back to back to   back like that yeah that's when you start seeing
things like this crazy because like the contact is   good all around pretty much relatively and then
just based on you know the club composition it's   just gonna send it different ways yeah absolutely
yeah that's what i always say they're all good   clubs yeah no one's about another only one
manufacturer it's just whether what's best   for any individual player again we're not here for
distance we're here to tighten stuff up achieve   yeah there you go yep here are the clubs i ended
up with the mizuno pro 221 is a super clean club   and the project x lz extra stiff huge
shout out to the pj tour superstore   for having me out and fitting me for some
new irons and i'll see you in the next one
