Stop Chunking Your Wedges When You Pitch or Chip
Why You Are Digging in with your Wedges
1) You might not have enough weight forward. I recommend putting 60-80% of your weight on your front foot (depending on the chip shot). If you do not have your weight properly forward, you could be catching the chip fat.
2) You might be “casting” and releasing the club head too early. If your clubhead gets to the ball before your hands, this causes chunky shots. Practice leading with your hands forward, leaving the clubhead behind them to ensure you are hitting down on the chips.
3) Lastly, you could be digging your wedges in if you are bringing the club too far to the inside on your back swing. Watch how I bring the club back to ensure that you don’t chunk it.
