Wild Dunes Resort plans renovation of both its golf courses in South Carolina

Wild Dunes Resort in Isle of Palms, South Carolina, plans to invest more than $8 million to upgrade both its Tom Fazio-designed golf layouts, the Links and Harbor courses. Completion of the projects is slated for October 2024.

The work on the courses near Charleston will include rebuilding and resurfacing all the greens, among other efforts. The course renovations follow in the wake of more than $150 million in other resort renovations that included the addition of the 153-room Sweetgrass Inn.

One of the major points of the course restorations will be changes to the 18th hole of the Links Course, which has been shortened from its original design as a par 5 to a par 3 because of coastal erosion issues. The resort operators are considering ways to improve play on No. 18 as well as other efforts around the course.

“We couldn’t be more excited about the continued growth and investment in the resort,” Tom Nolan, Wild Dunes Resort’s managing director, said in a media release announcing the projects. “After years of continued improvements to the property with our guests and members in mind, enhancing our overall golf product was the natural next step. We’re looking forward to delivering this elevated offering through both the Harbor Course – Tom Fazio’s original South Carolina gem – along with the Links Course, creating an exceptional coastal championship golf experience.”
